The Parliamentary Commission for Supervising the Implementation of the Communications Surveillance Measures by the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defense, chaired by MP Emil Dimitriev, conducted regular control in the premises of the Operational-Technical Agency Skopje. -
In accordance with the procedures, the Commission concluded that, in the course of 2019, a total of 258 communications had been activated in OTA, and that at the time of this control, OTA was monitoring a total of 159 communications, which had been activated in 2018 and 2019, and which had been covered by appropriate court orders.
“The communication surveillance is maximally safe and without any chance of being misused,” stressed the participants in the joint press conference held following the visit.
On this occasion, Mr. Dimitriev stressed that they were awaiting the signing of a contract to hire an IT expert who would be assisting the Commission during its next audits. The expert had been selected already, pending a signature from the Speaker of Parliament.
